Glenn Greenwald, Matt Taibbi, Bari Weiss, Alex Berenson.

His views haven’t changed. Fox is the only network that will have him on which is a detriment to other networks.

Rafael Gonzalez's avatar

I see no detriment in avoiding fake news.

Vulkan's avatar

Agreed that they are fake news BUT, if they did allow Glen on those networks, or Matt then maybe a few people who watch those networks would hear some truth for once.

What's right? That YOU and the dufus Andy can discern lies from truth? Bet you both believed and still do that Hunter Biden is as pure as the driven snow.

Greg Klema's avatar

Here you are again with your purported "god-like" knowledge of discernment of the ability to discern the truth from the noise. What well do you drink from that infuses you with such divine discernment? Do tell.

Greg Klema's avatar

Your humble opinion judge Gonzalez. You claim to know fake news? Really? It is the game of warfare and YOU SIR Claim to be able to discern the truth from fiction? You should read Animal Farm first.

No he’s definitely not the “new master of the far right”. There’s this thing you can get for your computer called newsguard. It’s an application that tells you how good news websites are with a score out of 100. I’m pretty sure that the daily beast has a pretty low ranking die to publishing fake news.

Greg Klema's avatar

Really? Are you kidding me? Surely you don't believe there is some software that can discern truth from fiction. If you do, you fooled around with your phone in class too much and didn't listen to the Civics teacher.

Greg Klema's avatar

Just opinions. Is the Daily Beast a leftist rag bent on revving up all the goonies that think Biden is a patriot?

Joan don’t let that shithead klema drive you away, he’s just another low level human who thinks it’s his way or it’s wrong just another trumper.

Greg Klema's avatar

Define the "far right". I suggest you start with the two extremes and attempt to find the middle.

Greg Klema's avatar

He came late to the party, that's all.

If you watch the interview, he explains himself. A lot of former left leaning journalists are realizing that something is rotten in Denmark and it ain't playing well in Peoria.

Did you say Tucker Carlson? Are you suggesting Carlson has insight? Dude don’t waste our time with your maga fake news!

Greg Klema's avatar

Try watching one episode, just one, there are over 100 of TC Today. 48 minutes each, some longer. Just one. He interviews real thinkers of our time. Just asks questions, no noise at all. Better yet, try Victor Davis Hanson or Jordan Peterson. They will make you a much bigger person. OR, you can worship your messiah who can't put two words together.

Tucker Carlson, American patriot? Have you lost your mind kid? Carlson is nothing but a spoiled rich brat whose parents never disciplined and now the rest of society has to put up with his BS. And on top of it, we have to put up with people like you who apparently never finished grade school and cannot write a logical sentence or know what facts are compared to illusions. We told you to get out of the kitchen, apparently it is too hot for a skin head like you!

Watch the documentary The Great Hack on Netflix. Wow

Greg Klema's avatar

I cancelled Netflix because their algorithm kept suggesting I watch things I've already watched. I started with Roku and Daily Wire to get Tucker Carlson and Jordan Peterson. I will look for The Great Hack availablility elsewhere... I checked the trailer and I did see it before. Another great is The Social Dilemma which is also a Netflix Original. Some of the same people appear in both.

Deb Comerford's avatar

Another Good one is “The U.S. and the holocaust” on PBS

Greg Klema's avatar

Marathoned it. Good work. The only thing I don't understand is ... and I am quite the political scientist... why National Socialism is labeled "right wing" and Marxist Bolshevism is labeled "left wing". To me, they are on the same bird. Watch the documentary Mr. Jones. It goes deep to snap back to the current rage in Ukraine. It is about the Holodomor of Stalin. It explains why these people are fighting to the death against the Russ. Thank you for turning me on to this new documentary.

Deb Comerford's avatar

Your welcome! I agree. I also have questions after watching that documentary. Lots of information I didn’t know. I will check out Mr. Jones!.

Derek's avatar

Watch it wherever you can find it.

I think (by now) everyone reads Heather Cox Richardson's, Letters from an American

https://heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/

Heather's Substack is insanely popular. Politically, Heather leans Left but everyone can read her musings because her "Letters" are suffused with human warmth.

Less well known is Claire Berlinski's, Cosmopolitan Globalist

https://claireberlinski.substack.com/

Claire is ridiculously intelligent - her depth of knowledge and understanding across a panoply of topics is fearsome but always engaging. If you enjoy and value intelligent content, the Cosmopolitan Globalist is for you.

Kevin Alexander's avatar

I'd like to share 2 Substacks I've recently come across that more people should know about.

The first one is Infinite Noise Project. Most of us spend our days surrounded by white noise in one form or another. This Substack takes individual sounds and loops them. It's made me a little more intentional about the spaces I'm in as I go about my day, and I've noticed I'm paying attention to what I'm hearing as well.

If nothing else, it makes for great background sound as you're working.

A recent favorite: https://infinitenoiseproject.substack.com/p/industrial-doppler#details

#####

The second one is "Deep Midwest: Politics and Culture" by Robert Leonard. Leonard covers life in Iowa. On the surface, that might seem like a strange pick, but there are very real people leading very real lives in flyover country.

Leonard writes the way small town AM radio sounds (I say that as high praise). If you have any interest in micro journalism, the Midwest, or just stories about life, this is a good one to add to your content diet.

A recent fave: https://rleonard.substack.com/p/a-trip-to-perry

Where's Perry Iowa? Beats me, but this story is relatable regardless of your zip code.

I’m always excited to read a post from Ted Gioia. It might sound corny but he truly is a very wise and intelligent guy. He specialises in commentary on the music business. His insight is razor sharp!

I’ll recommend two musical substack :

Kryze's avatar

Thanks for the recommendation, sub to yours.

Kevin Alexander's avatar

Thank you! And thanks for your "Golden Studio Vol. 7" playlist; it's making a bleak Midwest Saturday AM a little brighter.

Take a look at Rebecca Holden Dear Reader, I'm lost: vulnerable, honest and charming. She's doing an upcoming guest post for me, too. For a super, intellectual take on essays on literature and politics, do look at Sam Kahn Castalia. And I love Michael Mohr for commentary on literature and his short stories. He's doing an upcoming guest post for me! Excellent writers all. Breakthroughs for Substack.

Rebecca Holden's avatar

That's so kind, Mary - thank you! :D

Michael Mohr's avatar

Thank you Mary!! Here's my Substack: "Michael Mohr's Liberal (But Not Woke) Writing Newsletter": https://michaelmohr.substack.com/

Chloe Faure's avatar

As a food and stories writer, I get really obsessed with two newsletters, that it is almost impossible for me to choose in between them: From the Desk of Alicia Kennedy features amazing writing about food and everything around eating; the other one is Craft Talk by Jami Attenberg, who shares on a weekly basis her recent emotions and feelings towards the craft of writing.

https://www.aliciakennedy.news/

https://1000wordsofsummer.substack.com/

Mikala Jamison's avatar

Seconding both of these! I also published an interview with Alicia in my newsletter: https://bodytype.substack.com/p/one-persons-rigid-unhealthy-ritual

Chloe Faure's avatar

I love Dr. Robert W Malone's Substack. He writes as one of the most genuine, brilliant, yet humble men I have come across on Substack. I also have great admiration for Dr. Pierre Koury, who has lost much in order to save lives and fight for truth, yet is there on the front lines day after day. And I also must read Steve Kirsch every day, the most non-fatigueable man on earth. He is unrelenting in his efforts to educate and sway people to stop the travesty caused by these "clot shots" and expose bad science.

Deb Comerford's avatar

I agree!! I’ve learned so much from them and got me through Covid with therapeutics and vitamins. I wish they would give us data on myocarditis in the young before the shot and now after the shot. Lots of discussions going on about how rare it is, and that yes .... teens are dying from Myocarditis but most likely due to “infection “ that settled in the heart or most likely born with a heart defect. Parents are being told in large numbers that the shot had nothing to do with it. Wish they would address it.

STH's avatar

I look forward to reading Jeff Childers Coffee & Covid every day. Love him!

David Moore Robinson's avatar

Check out “Unsettled Science” by Nina Teicholz. If you’ve ever heard the term “trans fats,” you have Nina to thank. Her Substack picks up where her NYT Bestseller “Big Fat Surprise” left off, digging into the politics and science (or lack thereof) behind current dietary dogma and official government recommendations. It’s the most important and, well, unsettling writing in the health space today.

I'm a fan of Kevin Alexander On Repeat. https://thekevinalexander.substack.com/p/milky-chance. He writes about music he likes, music he doesn't like but which has some saving graces, such as the one I linked to. Jesus Escobedo's avatar

Aside from reading authors and books, for now, or ever since Rush Limbaugh passed away, I trust very few sources, authors, for news and commentary. I enjoy reading "Coffee & COVID," or Jeff Childers everyday her on Substack. On glad he is here. He news and commentary is funny, sarcastic, but most of all informative, and almost true most of the time.

Rafael Gonzalez's avatar

You trusted Limbaugh? With news? Wow, I thought this was enlightened conversation Jesus, guess not!

Jesus Escobedo's avatar

Thank you for your comment. We can agree to disagree, as it has been said.

I did trust Limbaugh most of the time with regard to commentary on the political state of affairs of the Republic because he told the truth, and was consistent in his patriotic conservatism. However, I trust the God of the Bible 110% on every issue. He is the wise and true Sovereign. He “enlightens” all who stand with truth, all truth. Therefore, I do try to think, be enlightened, informed, adequate, sufficient, and relevant.

I trust very few sources because they are liars, “fake” news and propaganda. Who do you trust? Who or what enlightens you?

The Progressive far left is mostly lies and propaganda, whether they are Democrat or Republican, Independent or Libertarian. They don’t love the Republic, only their agenda, and utopian ideology, which leads to Socialism, and Marxism.

Rafael Gonzalez's avatar

You are too far gone to have a conversation with and I believe in myself.

Jesus Escobedo's avatar

I’m sorry you choose to take an intolerant, unenlightened perspective. You disagree, and that’s fine.

Greg Klema's avatar

Ignore Raffie Gonezalaz. He roots around snooping for people who he thinks are enemies. He will not engage in substantive observations or remarks, just snarky, inflammatory rhetoric. I think he has a card deck of nasty adjectives that he flips through so as not to use the same one twice in one sentence. Keep on keyin'.

Rafael Gonzalez's avatar

lISTEN TOO YOURSELF! Your remarks of me exactly profile you! Klema? What is that a made-up name when one of your ancestors sign in at a NY port, and don't tell me your ancestors came over with the pilgrims, the old, old story! My ancestors came over with the pilgrims' blah blah blah, BS.

I don’t do this often but plugging myself here for crisis reasons. I’m a queer nuyorican writer, currently working and living in Puerto Rico and as some of you may know, Hurricane Fiona hit us last Sunday and most of the island has been without power since. No power, no wifi, spotty service, many still don’t even have water. I wrote a essay this week for my newsletter about the abuse of power by LUMA energy (PR’s power grid provider) and I encourage you all to check it out if you can. Also written fully on my phone (I should be sponsored by google docs honestly...)

The people of Puerto Rico are seriously suffering right now and the only thing I’ve been asking of folks is to keep boosting and talking about what’s going on here. We need to shine a light on the corruption so things can change.
