Another week of SUBSTACK Reads and i cant say it enough that we are getting tired of the same of 5 writers that Substack keeps pushing in every post 😂. I know, Bailey must be tired of reading my weekly criticism but this is exactly what I was saying yesterday....Ted Goia, Paolina Pampliano, Alexander Beiner, Rob Henderson, Matt Taibbi...I mean at least take a break from these writers for a week!
The excuse that these writers are being promoted weekly because they are successful in amassing a larger audience is like saying that everyone else with a lesser audience are horrible writers 😂
So very honored to be featured here and that sort of puts my modest Substack to task. It’s not all about big numbers, but heartfelt communication and community and keeping a commitment to myself to write. Merci from deepest darkest Camont--a quiet place to work.
I love ‘The Hutton Reports’, a parliamentary sketch by Robert Hutton, who is both a very witty observer of the ridiculous contortions British politicians get themselves into, and also a serious author of , for example, a history of the intelligence service in the Second World War.

We should really clarify what we mean by “small publications” so we don’t have to have the same arguments very weak. Small as is below 1000? Small as in less than 100 paid?
I also understand that Substack is looking for people who have a well defined mission and vision and are putting out consistent work with muscle behind it. If that is not you (or even me), if the work doesn’t resonate, then we all just have to keep our eyes on our own paper until magic happens in some way. Let’s not live for recognition. There’s stiff competition and we are not on the same journeys.
What does this article, pushed into my notifications, have to do with the single subscription I have with Substack? I only follow political news. I will push the "unlike" button for this inocent writer. How does that help promote his Substack. Get your act together.
Coming Soon is a great feature here. How do we let Substack know when our new books are coming out? Or are these culled from searching Pubs who just mention their book publications?
