In this edition of the Weekender: New York Times bestsellers lurking in unexpected places, a remedy for atrophied attention spans, and how to spend money in your twilight years
thank you for featuring phone a friend, @Danya Issawi! this anonymous money interview — and the woman behind it — is one of my favorites yet. glad more people will get to see it. here's to more women talking about (and getting) money!!
DJ Khaled is an industry plant like Elon Musk or Peter Thiel. As basic and overplayed as they come. Not original. So yeah “make the art and secure the bag makes sense”.
The piece on mania that you highlighted here is everything wrong with writing about mental illness and is exactly what I'd share with someone if I wanted them to never get better. Some things don't change.
“Make the art, then secure the bag” is a pretty strong creator motto. The attention-span piece hit too — curiosity is probably the only algorithm that still works on the human soul.
DJ Khaled the Palestinian ? That DJ Khaled? The most platformed Palestinian who has NEVER advocated for PALESTINE? I’m supposed to care? About bag? And Tony Scamalot Robbins???? Bish PLEEEZE
Reading with intention and craft always creates a deeper value that the 'bag' eventually follows. It’s about building a legacy of depth first, in an industry that too often chases the quick win.
I love that Mary was expecting business aphorisms and ended up with something more profound. The story is proof that sound advice can appear in the least probable places and often when you least expect it.
