Thanks for the content. For me the place to find happiness everywhere is to focus on the space between the thoughts or between the pairs of opposites. Perspective is realizing that the longer you wait in time the poles will change position making attachment to the status quo or polarizing social, political or economic trends a liability. Also lets get real the modern life is built on the free flow of credit, international relations and cheap portable hgh density abundant fuels and minerals of the correct types to spur growth for which there is no present scalable substitute. Can you be happy and healthy even in a world that has slipped into Macron's "end of abundance" or where "involuntary degrowth" is necessary to survive the population bottkeneck? Yes I think a Great Simplification facilitated with some kind of Front Porch Forum is the way to achieve happiness despite worsening conditions. Thanks for reading!
darin's drawings take me back to being seven, the camp bus, the rainbow of new parenting, 2007 Saturday morning TV with my kids...a little whimsy, a little tension to remind us of the real world...the nest just emptied-thanks for giving me back a little time!
Own happiness comparing is obviously inherently consequential. Sitting fresh lemons in a bowl, on an kitchen island with the sun peaking in with breezing air will awaken your happy triggers!
Happiness in excessive amounts can be signs or deadly health issues. That is to say maintaining a level of joyful tears for hours, or some other extremely odd and oddly possible. BUT, if this goes even higher, you could be experiencing mania, or hypomania. Uncommon, but most people witness it fairly often.
These mental states exhibit these symptoms among others: insomnia, staying wake with feeling the need for sleep. Loss of appetite. Interest in things you would normally have much attention for. Problems with focus. Memory issue, both long and short term. The biggest risk is the possibility of rebound depression after a period of mania. This can become cyclical, and have destroyed many friends, relations with relatives and lovers, money issues. Misunderstanding societal cues.
What wonderful collection of inspiration and introspection! I'd like to share my own contemplations centered around my departure from the educational field and questioning what it means, now, to be a part of the "real world."
This latest Substack, Desperate Acts of imagination, like so many others I have written are so hard and so necessary to write as they balance between the great love i have and feel we must have for Earth (especially in these times) and the enormous heartbreak. I usually let one of the images in my essay lead, but not this time. They have to be seen - they are ours - but I had to lead up to them, the prison, CECOT, in El Salvador where …. And to that reality, Barry Lopez calls us to acts of imagination. I hope you will read this essay and browse my Substack to which I am committed as a writer and an Earth and justice activist with the pen (well, the pen is figurative these days. Love it! Thank you! I’m 68, I get it, too. Take me back to the carefree days when I looked so perfect and felt amazing.

like a human melissa and doug toy section of Amazon.
Poetry? Or word magnets thrown at a refrigerator, and taken seriously.

The month that's past.
Like April morning clouds that pass, with varying shadows Ower the grass, that imitate on field and furrow , life's checkered scene of joy and sorrow.
