That science section, combined with current situation that we are bombard by AI, reminds me of Interstellar, Professor Brand, recites the line again and again as a quiet insistence on survival in the face of extinction, a refusal to accept the fading of humanity.

“Do not go gentle into that good night.

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.”

My contribution to raging against the dying of the light ...

I just finished a 5-year project curating all the good news in the world (and Far Side cartoons). It's all tech, medical, energy and wildlife breakthroughs that I believe will save us.

In dark times, I hope it shines a light ˗ˏˋ★ˎˊ˗

Wow. Will save and read later! Thank you!

The project really helped me get through a dark time. I could have lost my wife and family, but searching for hope white-pilled me within weeks ... helped a few friends too. There's an entirely different world out there, buried deep, but it's there if you know where to dig. I'm not selling anything btw, just spreading hope. NY resolution kinda thing. Share the love if you like ✨🙏❤️

I have had both. Suicidal thinking a decade ago after divorce and at Christmas my Dad dying and my own cancer diagnosis has exploded in a “I don’t want to die I want to live FULLY” has totally set me free! It’s liberating beyond belief. Nothing to lose anymore

Similar circumstance since 2020 ( mom died, 32 yo marriage finally imploded, etc. back surgery, stopped writing) but have not quite found the goal...still waiting, almost there. GOOD for you! Keep it up.

I've been searching for hope, joy and reasons to live. There's too much fear on the news. To that end ...

Way to go Kate! I can totally understand the "do or die" literally, moment.

I don't know what it feels like to want to "live fully". I'm still trying...

Mary P Payette's avatar

Correction: I want to live fully, but I feel stuck in the mire of the world and it's injustices. I sometimes wonder what's the point of it all? I do have a relationship with God, for those who point only to God... we still have to live here in this world until we pass. I don't want to die, I'm just struggling to truly LIVE.

There is a God, and if you let him in I guarantee you will begin to live your best life.

Believing in humanity makes it easier to believe in the world. To that end ...

Personally as a Christian, I think we call the "...something like the opposite of suicide, whereby a person radically and abruptly decides to start living.", salvation!

Blessings Ron

I second this. The language in scripture, specifically in Romans, speaks as being in a state of death, and coming to God the Father, through Christ as being redeemed through Christ as receiving life. This held true in my experience after decades of being agnostic/atheist.

YES🙏🏽🙏🏽

Tracy's avatar

Yeah, it’s called “coming out!”

The opposite of suicide where someone decides to radically start living is called Jesus Christ. That process is called being born again and the outcome is exactly that. Life and satisfaction where you never thirst again. I speak from experience. Peace like I never had before, no more depression or anxiety. A life of abundance (not to be confused with an absence of struggle).

Ruth's avatar

You explained it so well. If I had only known years earlier, it would have prevented so much struggle and pain.

Brian Overton's avatar

Born again falls under that category. Works for many.

This comment section is full of mentally ill, delusional people believing embracing and nurturing their afflictions and mental disorders created by their traumas and bad decisions and embracing a self-destructive and selfish lifestyle is "living".

You're really going to choose the "anything but God" route? Our creator literally tells us exactly what to do and codes it into our DNA and minds and you still choose the harmful and selfish thing. You need to humble yourselves and receive the Truth--the ultimate objective Truth--not your narcissistic delusion--your demonic prison.

God loves you and has a plan and purpose for you. You will NEVER be truly fulfilled because you are missing THE MOST IMPORTANT THING.

Jesus Christ really is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. His way actually works, and isn't just another narcissistic delusion. You as an evil, twisted, injured person full of rebellion will be repulsed by that and choose the lies of the world and your flesh until you truly humble yourself and consider, "maybe God really does know what's best for me, I've only made things worse, maybe I should give up this pretending and just trust Him and let Him have His way in me."

I feel I had that happen last year. I acknowledged that I was sending myself to an early grave via my cynical apathetic negative fearful thoughts and immediately decided to start living. In 9 months time I've began to address things I had creatively avoided for years and decades. I believe 18 months from now my life will be unrecognizable because when I decided to be grateful and present the Creator started pouring into me. And I saw how valuable I am in all of this. I'm essential. We all are. We just have to recognize it and stay in the NOW.

Direct opposite to dark, suicide, evil, death is Jesus Christ, He is the way, the truth and the life.
