As a journalist, my utmost interest was and is being a truth-seeker who wanted to get the story first but also report it with accuracy, fairness, clarity, completeness as well as comprehensive context & background info — yet often faced seemingly impossible deadlines which meant delivering all this felt almost miraculous most times. But did I feel powerful? Not really, since we weren’t calling most of the shots on the news decisions of the day (at best influencing the decision-makers partially) and also, we were earning significantly less than many factory workers, lol.
