I like the "real" deeply natural, intelligent and unpretentious picture you draw with your writing. Having been a volunteer fire fighter in part of my life, I know the conditions that result from a home fire. It is a disaster that you faced with grit and even rediscovered your hero who took of business and coughed up smoke suet and hacked it onto the sidewalk; without even a whimper; what a man. Thank you for sharing your story.

What kind of owl is that. Looks similar to a great horned but without the 'tuffs' on the ears? Maybe they look different depending on where you are? We're in Northern Ontario. No clue how this ended up on my email lol but you're a good writer.
The owl is probably saying a lot through it mannerisms and expressions that we just don't understand. Dogs on the other hand..... If people were as expressive as dogs, language would only be needed for giving directions and technical matters. Thanks for the wonderful piece of writing and the photos were great.
I always enjoy The Weekender. I like to jump around from subject to subject and from one media to another. I have to say that I loved every story, poem, photo and documentary snippet in this particular issue! My favorite, of course, was Flaco and I can't wait to see the documentary! Thanks for the hard work of putting this altogether!!
