Taking control of the news and media you consume back from the billionaire owned algorithms is so important nowadays. All other social media is slowly brainwashing its users with partisan bullshit , substack is a bastion of wholesomeness and civility compared to garbage like Facebook and Twitter. I'm grateful this site exists as an alternative.

My life is all Substack. And then I go home (Sheffield, UK) and nobody there has even heard of it. 5 million subscriptions is definitely a big milestone. And yet it's crazy to think that Substack's still in its earliest moment of evolution. We're all at the vanguard of culture—and I'm sure 5 million subscriptions will turn out to be a scratch on the surface. Well done to all of us Substackers!
I’ve become a paid subscriber to around 10 writers. There are many I would like to financially support but it’s just not possible. Wish there was a way to get a discount if you subscribe to a certain number.
Although I follow them, most block the comments unless you pay.
